emSigner Review 2026: Pricing, Features & Honest Verdict

emSigner review 2026: Essential at $10 or $12 a user a month, the API only on a $0.99 envelope plan (40 minimum), no MCP server, and what its users say.

emSigner is the e-signature and document workflow platform of eMudhra, an Indian company that is also a licensed Certifying Authority, so it can issue the digital certificates its users sign with.

In October 2026 its Essential plan costs $10 a user a month at checkout and on emSigner's subscription plans page, and $12 on its Teams and Enterprise pricing page. The API needs a separate envelope plan at $0.99 an envelope.

My emSigner review in one line: a strong choice if you sign in India with Aadhaar eSign or a USB token, and a confusing one to buy anywhere else, because emSigner's own pages disagree on the price and plans.

On this page

emSigner review verdict: who it's for and who should skip it

emSigner is worth paying for when your signatures need to be more than a typed name: Aadhaar eSign or a Digital Signature Certificate (DSC) on a USB token in India, or a national signing scheme in Indonesia, Malaysia or the UAE. eMudhra issues certificates itself, and emSigner can run in the cloud or on your own servers.

It is a harder buy for one person outside India. The plans for individuals are India only, the cheapest team plan is billed per user, the API sits on a separate envelope plan, and the two pricing pages show different prices for the same plan.

Best for: Indian companies that sign with Aadhaar eSign, DSC tokens or eStamps; enterprises that want on-premise signing from a Certifying Authority; teams in the countries whose signing schemes emSigner supports.

Skip if: you send a few documents a month from outside India, you want an MCP server for an AI assistant, or you want one clear price before you buy.

Here is how users rate emSigner on review sites, checked October 9, 2026:

What users say about emSigner

The web platform scores well on G2 and Capterra, and the mobile app scores badly in the stores. G2's ten lowest-rated reviews run from 2020 to 2025, score between 2.5 and 4 out of 5, and G2 leaves one of them out of its score as a "Guest user". Capterra's nine reviews score 4 or 5, and none is negative.

Many of the Google Play reviews are about logging in. Below, the complaints are grouped by theme and given in full, with a few positives. Quotes run from 2019 to 2026, are copied as written, typos included, and link to where they were posted.

Pricing and billing: paying for an app that changed

The money complaints come from the app stores: paying before you can test a single signature, and paying for an app that reviewers say got worse. One small business on G2 asks for pricing by document volume. Two Capterra reviewers praise its value.

Support: no answer, and changes made without notice

One Google Play reviewer says there is no customer support. One G2 reviewer says emSigner changed its backend server without telling them and the service went down "many times". Another G2 reviewer calls the support team excellent.

Ease of use: logins, bugs and slow pages

This is the biggest theme. On Google Play, reviewers from 2021 to 2025 could not create an account or log in from the app. On G2, reviewers describe bugs, error messages, slow page loads and performance that varies. The positives call the platform simple to use, and one Google Play reviewer calls it wonderful.

Signer experience: OTPs, eKYC and signing again

Features, the API and MCP

The feature complaints are about customization, file types and large uploads, missing advanced features, and authentication methods that are offered in India but not elsewhere. The positives are about bulk signing and a quick API setup.

I found no user review about an emSigner MCP server, because there isn't one (see below).

What emSigner is, and who eMudhra is

emSigner is sold by eMudhra. The Google Play listing names the developer as eMudhra Limited in Bengaluru, India. emSigner's Bharat Plan page says: "eMudhra is a licensed Certifying Authority and eSign Service Provider."

You upload a document, add signers and fields, choose the signature type and send it as an envelope.

emSigner's pricing FAQ says documents can be sent to an "unlimited number of external parties", while the API page defines an envelope as "upto 10 users and upto 10 documents as part of the envelope with a 25mb total document size". The Teams and Enterprise page offers on-premise deployment through sales.

The signature types emSigner supports

emSigner's support center lists these signature types, checked October 9, 2026:

WhereSignature types
GlobaleSignature, remote signing, Digital Signature Certificate (DSC), Azure Key Vault signing
IndiaAadhaar eSign (eSign v2) and eSign v3
IndonesiaVIDA, Peruri and xignature
MalaysiaMSC Trustgate signing with the MyTrust ID app
Other country pagesUnited States, European Union, Kenya, Philippines, Qatar, United Arab Emirates

Two of these need a word of explanation:

  • Aadhaar eSign (eSign v2) is India's national e-signature. The signer types an Aadhaar number, gets an OTP and the document is signed. emSigner's Bharat Plan page says it "is legally valid under the Information Technology Act of India." The April 2026 release notes say "the Aadhaar eSign charge has been revised from Rs. 5 to Rs. 10 per transaction".
  • A Digital Signature Certificate (DSC) is a certificate stored on a USB token or smart card. In emSigner the signer picks "Digital Signature (Token or Smart Card)" and the app lists the connected tokens.

For the difference between the two kinds of signature, see digital signature vs electronic signature.

Recent changes

  • April 2026, version 3.0.0: the platform was rebuilt on .NET Core with "a refreshed interface", OAuth on all APIs, SSO with Google, Microsoft 365 and SAML, and login MFA. The same release says "the Advanced Plan has been discontinued for new subscriptions" and raised the Aadhaar eSign charge to Rs. 10.
  • September 2026, version 3.0.5: SHCIL e-stamping inside the signing flow for clients in India, encryption with your own AWS KMS key on the Professional plan, and a report on what external signers did.

What emSigner does well

  • Signatures most tools can't do. Aadhaar eSign, DSC tokens and smart cards, Azure Key Vault and national schemes in Indonesia, Malaysia and the UAE, from a company that is itself a Certifying Authority.
  • eStamping in India. Stamp papers can be bought and attached inside the signing flow, now including SHCIL e-stamps.
  • Cloud or your own servers. On-premise deployment is offered through sales.
  • Security paperwork. emSigner's trust center lists SOC 1 Type II and SOC 2 Type II reports (available "upon request and under NDA"), ISO 27001:2022, ISO 27018:2014, ISO 37001:2016, CMMI Level 5 and DirectTrust Identity certification, and says HIPAA compliance certificates are available on request. It shows no dates for them.
  • No account needed to sign. The pricing FAQ says documents can go to an "unlimited number of external parties" who do not need an emSigner account, though the API page counts up to 10 users per envelope.
  • A 30-day free trial on both pricing pages.

emSigner pricing in 2026 (checked October 2026)

emSigner has two pricing pages, and they do not agree. Here is what each showed on October 9, 2026, exactly as listed:

PlanSubscription plans pageTeams and Enterprise pageCheckout
EssentialUSD 10 per user / month, USD 1 /envelopeUSD 12 per user / month, USD 1 /envelopeYearly only: USD 108.00 for 1 user, no envelope line
AdvancedUSD 20 per user / month, "Most popular"Not listedNot offered
ProfessionalUSD 40 per user / month, "Contact Us""For Pricing Contact Us"Only as the envelope plan
Envelope plan (API)USD 0.99 /envelope, "Contact Us"USD 0.99 /envelope, "Buy Now"USD 0.99 an envelope, minimum 40, yearly

Both pricing pages say "10% Discount when Billed Annually" and "No Further Hidden Cost".

The checkout lists Essential at "USD 10 per user / per month" and offers it only on the yearly cycle: for one user it shows a base price of USD 120.00, a yearly discount of USD 12.00 and a total of USD 108.00, before tax. At the Teams page's $12, the same year would be $129.60.

What else the pages say, and what they don't:

  • The per-envelope figure on user plans. Each user plan card also shows a per-envelope price ("USD 1 /envelope" on Essential) without saying when it applies. The checkout total for Essential has no envelope line, and the pricing FAQ says Essential, Advanced and Professional have "no document limits but subject to fair usage policy". Neither page says what the fair usage limit is.
  • What Essential leaves out. The Teams and Enterprise page marks advanced signing workflows, role-based access control, "API and system integrations", SSO, enterprise security controls and storage integrations as Professional only.
  • Plans for individuals are India only. Pay & Sign (one document per transaction, up to 5 participants) and the Bharat Plan (one user, Aadhaar eSign and eMudhra eKYC) are both "currently available for users in India only". Their support pages show no price.
  • A wallet for extras. SMS and WhatsApp notifications, eStamping, Aadhaar and other remote eSignature services and qualified signatures are paid from a prepaid wallet, outside the plan. The support center's subscription FAQ says emSigner keeps "default pricing" for these but does not publish it.
  • Cancelling. "For cancellation or downgrading of plans you need to Contact Us eMudhra."

Does emSigner have an API or an MCP server?

The API. Yes. emSigner has a REST API, but "To use the REST APIs, you must have a valid envelope subscription." The API subscription page says "The minimum to get started is 40", that "Every API plan subscription is valid for one year", and that an envelope "gets deducted for a complete signing transaction". At $0.99 an envelope, the smallest API purchase is $39.60. Since April 2026 all APIs use OAuth. The subscription FAQ counts envelopes differently, as "when a document (or set of documents) is sent for signature".

MCP. No. emSigner has no MCP server. I found none in emSigner's support center, its documentation index, the developer portal or the developer site, checked October 9, 2026. To connect an AI assistant such as Claude or ChatGPT to emSigner, you would have to build that on the REST API yourself.

Where emSigner falls short

Each point comes from emSigner's own pages, checked October 9, 2026, or from the reviews quoted above.

  1. Two prices for one plan. Essential is $10 a user a month on one page and $12 on the other.
  2. A discontinued plan still advertised. Advanced is "Most popular" on the subscription page, but checkout does not offer it, and it is discontinued for new subscriptions per the April 2026 release notes.
  3. The API is a separate purchase. emSigner's pricing pages and support FAQ put the API on envelope-based plans only, and the envelope plan (sold as Professional at checkout) needs 40 envelopes upfront, which expire after a year.
  4. No MCP server.
  5. Solo plans are India only. A buyer outside India starts at a per-user team plan or the envelope plan.
  6. Extras from a wallet with unpublished prices. SMS, WhatsApp, eStamping and remote signatures are paid separately, and only the Aadhaar eSign charge (Rs. 10) is published.
  7. Cancelling takes a call. Cancelling or downgrading means contacting eMudhra.
  8. The mobile app. Google Play reviewers from 2021 to 2025 could not create an account or log in, and the app scores 2.8 there.

What a year of emSigner costs at 5, 10 and 25 documents a month

For one sender, the cheapest emSigner route depends on volume: the envelope plan is cheaper up to 109 documents a year, and Essential is cheaper above that.

The table counts one document as one envelope and uses the Essential total the checkout shows, which has no per-envelope charge (see the note above on the "USD 1 /envelope" figure). Prices checked October 9, 2026, before tax and wallet extras:

Volume, one senderEnvelope plan, 1 yearEssential, 1 year (checkout total)Essential, 1 year at $12 (Teams page)Cheapest emSigner

25 a month (300 a year)$297$108$129.60$108

Both Essential columns include the 10% yearly discount; the checkout offers Essential only yearly. If you need the API, only the envelope plan column applies.

How I reviewed emSigner

Through running a freelancing agency and then a consulting agency, and working around a lot of freelancers, consultants and the people we serve, my team and I have gathered information about emSigner. For this review I also read emSigner's own pages and what its users wrote from 2019 to 2026, and checked everything again on October 9, 2026:

  • Vendor pages: both pricing pages, the checkout page, the API subscription page, the subscription FAQ, the Billing and Wallets page, the Pay & Sign and Bharat Plan pages, the Aadhaar eSign and DSC pages, the release notes for versions 3.0.0 and 3.0.5, the developer portal and the trust center.
  • Review platforms: G2 (4.6 from 130; its ten lowest-rated reviews, from 2020 to 2025, and the newest), all nine Capterra reviews (2019 to 2025), the Google Play reviews (2017 to 2026) and the App Store India reviews (2022 to 2025).
  • Not found: no Trustpilot profile for emSigner or eMudhra, and no Product Hunt page. The Reddit threads I found are about the emSigner utility that India's tax and company registry portals use for DSC signing, or mention the emSigner platform only in passing, so none are quoted.

Who should skip emSigner, and what to use instead

Keep emSigner if:

  • you sign in India with Aadhaar eSign, DSC tokens or eStamps
  • you need a national signing scheme in Indonesia, Malaysia or the UAE, or on-premise signing from a Certifying Authority
  • you send 25 or more documents a month: at that volume Essential's checkout total of $108 a year is cheaper than SignWith in the first year, as long as the "USD 1 /envelope" on emSigner's pricing cards is not charged on top (the checkout total has no envelope line) and your volume stays within emSigner's unpublished fair usage policy

If you need Aadhaar eSign or DSC signing, go with emSigner; if you just need your business documents signed without a per-user plan, use SignWith.

Skip emSigner if you are one or two people outside India who want a simple way to get a document signed a few times a month, without picking between two price lists, a team plan and an envelope plan. That is who we built SignWith for.

SignWith has no seats and no subscription. You buy credits, and a credit is used only when a document is signed. Every signed document uses one of your free monthly documents or a credit, including one that only you sign, and a declined, voided or expired document uses none.

  • Upload a PDF, JPEG or PNG, add signature, date, text and checkbox fields, and set the signing order.
  • Your recipients sign in the browser on any device, with no account.
  • Every completed document comes with a Certificate of Completion that records timestamps, IP addresses, device and browser details and email events, sealed with a SHA-256 hash.

Here is the same year at all three volumes. emSigner prices checked October 9, 2026; SignWith's free monthly documents continue after you buy credits.

VolumeCheapest emSigner, 1 yearSignWith, 1 year
5 a month$59.40 (60 envelopes)3 free a month cover 36 documents; one Pro pack covers the other 24 for $19
10 a month$108 (Essential, checkout)84 paid documents: one Business, one Pro and one Basic pack, $29 plus $19 plus $9
25 a month$108 (Essential, checkout)264 paid documents: the Lifetime Deal at $149 one-time, cheaper than buying packs

At today's prices that saves $40.40 (68%) at 5 a month and $51 (47%) at 10 a month, in the first year. At 25 a month emSigner Essential, at the checkout total, is cheaper in the first year: $108 against the Lifetime Deal at $149 one-time, a difference of $41.

That holds only if the "USD 1 /envelope" on emSigner's pricing cards is not added on top (the checkout total does not add it) and 300 documents a year fit its unpublished fair usage policy. Over two years, Essential comes to $216 at the checkout price, against the Lifetime Deal paid once.

emSigner has no MCP server, so you can't connect an AI assistant to it directly, and its REST API needs the envelope plan: 40 envelopes minimum, $39.60 upfront, and envelopes that expire after a year. Essential has no API at all. SignWith takes a different route:

  • An API and an MCP server on every account. SignWith has a REST API and an MCP server for AI assistants such as Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor and VS Code, so your own code or your assistant can send documents for signature.
  • The same credits as the app. No subscription, no developer plan, 3 free documents a month, then you buy credits, and a credit is used only when a document is signed.
  • The same fit. The API doesn't change who SignWith suits: a business that needs Aadhaar eSign, DSC tokens or on-premise signing should still pick emSigner.

SignWith templates, reminders, bulk send and team accounts are coming soon, so if you need any of those today, emSigner is the better buy. SignWith is used by 1,000+ businesses, and you can start free with no card.
