Signable Review 2026: Pricing, Features & Honest Verdict

Signable is a UK e-signature tool based in Bristol, and it still sells envelopes without a subscription. In October 2026 its plans page shows two prices: pay-as-you-go bundles from £2.60 an envelope, and an Essentials plan at £480 plus VAT a year for 300 envelopes. Business and Enterprise are priced on request. Every price is in pounds.

My Signable review in one line: a simple, well-supported signing tool that is good value for a UK team sharing one account, and an awkward buy for a US sender who wants a dollar price, a monthly plan or the API without talking to sales.

On this page

Signable review verdict: who it's for and who should skip it

Signable is worth paying for when several people in one UK business send contracts, because every plan includes unlimited users and Essentials shares 300 envelopes a year across all of them. It is a weaker fit for one sender outside the UK: prices are in pounds, the only fixed-price plan is annual, and the API sits behind a sales call.

Best for: UK teams that send steadily through the year; letting agents, accountants and HR teams who want unlimited users and templates; businesses that want a phone number to call in UK hours.

Skip if: you send a few documents a month on your own, you want to pay in dollars, you need the API without a sales call, or your business needs HIPAA or SOC 2.

What users say about Signable, 2017 to 2026

Signable's ratings are high, and they are old. The newest of its 185 Capterra reviews is from February 2025, and Trustpilot shows only 6 new reviews in the last 12 months, with a note that Signable "hasn't invited customers recently". So I went back through every year and every platform I could read, and kept the complaints in full.

On Software Advice, the 185 reviews split 155 five-star, 25 four-star, 4 three-star, 1 two-star and none at one star. Signable's Trustpilot profile says it "Replied to 100% of negative reviews", and several replies are summarized under the quotes below.

The quotes are grouped by theme, with a few positives, and each one is copied as written, dated and linked to where it was posted. Reviews from 2017 to 2023 describe older versions of the product and older plans, so read the date on each card.

Pricing and billing: paying again to fix a mistake

Most billing complaints are about money already spent: a credit lost on an envelope that needed a change, a refund that was refused, and price rises. One reviewer also says the limits of pay-as-you-go were never clearly shown.

“Also they are keeping £75 of my money and are refusing to return it stating they do not refund mistakes. They claim that their system is trustworthy and does not produce errors.”

Signable replied that the purchase matched the options selected at the time and that it had offered a £75 credit to her account, "which was accepted".

“I chose the pay-as-you-go option, but at no point was I shown a clear breakdown of benefits and limitations. Later, support told me it was my mistake and that I’d have to accept it, not a great experience, and trying to upsell for a plan even if it was only €15.”

Signable's terms say pay-as-you-go customers "pay up front, a set price for a bundle of Envelopes", and that no refund is issued if a paid plan renews before you downgrade. The refund rule is covered under where Signable falls short, below.

Support: quick and human for most, unresolved for a few

Support is Signable's best-rated area: 4.9 on Capterra, and the 2026 praise is mostly about the support team. The complaints are about problems that stayed open, slow replies and answers that did not help.

“I'm fed up with signable too, my problem is still not solved. Ive requested help and have got not much or no response.”

Signable replied that it had answered her queries in good time, including within 30 minutes of reopening after hours.

Ease of use: simple to send, confusing for some

Most reviewers call Signable easy, and ease of use scores 4.7 on Capterra. The complaints are about templates, finding things, and redesigns that changed how the app worked.

Signer experience: easy for most, stuck on long forms

Signers mostly find Signable easy. The negatives are specific: a long form that cannot be saved halfway, signers who cannot see the document again until everyone has signed, and an envelope sent without a signature box.

“Some way through I phoned Signable and was told that a survey has to be completed in one sitting. ie it does not remember where you got to and let you re-start where you left off.”

Features, the API, and Signable's missing MCP server

The feature complaints come back to the same few gaps: branding and email wording locked away from pay-as-you-go, teams that cannot be walled off, and an API that has moved to the Business plan.

“I was going to suggest Signable [1] which I have used in the past, but it looks like their API is only available on a monthly plan (I'm sure it was available on PAYG before) - but it is cheaper than the 2 you mentioned.”

Today Signable's API page says API access comes with the Business plan, priced on request.

“Emails are only sent in English, and while branding can be customized, you can’t add multiple email templates, which makes it impractical for companies working globally across different countries.”

No reviewer I found mentions an MCP server or an AI assistant connection for Signable, and Signable itself does not offer one (more in the last section). I found no Signable app on the App Store or Google Play, so there are no store reviews, and Product Hunt shows a single 5-star rating with no written review.

What Signable is and its key features

Signable is a UK e-signature service based in Bristol. You upload a document, place fields, add signers and send it as an envelope. Its plans FAQ defines an envelope as "a digital package containing one or more documents that are sent together for electronic signing". That is a fair unit: three documents in one envelope count once.

Here is what each plan includes, per Signable's plans page, checked October 6, 2026:

Signable's homepage lists integrations with Google Drive, Google Docs, Zapier, Make, HubSpot and Slack. Signable's help center also has sections for webhooks, embedded signing and bulk send.

What Signable does well

Signable's strengths are real, and most of them favor teams.

  • Unlimited users on every plan. A team of five sharing Essentials pays £480 plus VAT a year in total, not per seat.
  • Unlimited templates, even on pay-as-you-go. You don't need a plan to reuse a contract.
  • An envelope can hold several documents. You pay once for the packet, not per file.
  • Pay-as-you-go still exists. You can buy 10 envelopes for £30 and stop there, with no plan to cancel.
  • Support people answer the phone. The 2026 praise on Trustpilot is mostly about support, and Capterra rates customer service 4.9.
  • Signer security on every plan. Two-factor authentication for signers is included, and Signable says enabling it brings documents to its AES standard.

Signable pricing in 2026 (checked October 2026)

Signable's plans page prices everything in pounds, with no currency selector and no dollar prices. Here is what it showed on October 6, 2026.

Pay As You Go. The plans page says "From £2.60 per envelope". Behind its "View Envelope bundles" button, Signable lists four bundles. The dollar column is my conversion at the European Central Bank reference rate of $1.3225 per pound for October 5, 2026; your card or bank will use its own rate.

10 envelopes£30£3.00$40
25 envelopes£70£2.80$93
50 envelopes£135£2.70$179

Essentials£480 + VAT a year300$635 before any tax
Business"Let's talk"1,200Not published
Enterprise"Let's talk"5,000Not published

A few rules from Signable's own pages, checked October 6, 2026:

  • Your yearly allowance arrives upfront. The plans FAQ says "Your full envelope allowance is available upfront at the start of your annual plan", so a busy month is covered.
  • Unused plan envelopes don't roll over. The terms say "Unused Envelopes cannot be rolled over to a future billing period."
  • Going over costs an unpublished fee. On Essentials you can't buy extra bundles; those are for Business and Enterprise. Past your allowance "you'll be charged an overage fee for each additional envelope". The help article on plan limits doesn't give the rate and says to ask Signable's support team.
  • VAT is extra. The terms say all amounts are "exclusive of VAT and other duties or taxes (if applicable)".
  • Payment. Visa, Mastercard and American Express, plus direct debit for UK customers.
  • Charities. UK-registered charities get "10% off their first year on any annual plan".

Signable's pages don't say whether pay-as-you-go envelopes expire. In its October 2025 replies on Trustpilot, Signable still described a Small Business plan with 50 envelopes a month; the October 2026 plans page no longer shows it, so older blog reviews quoting monthly plans are out of date.

Where Signable falls short

The weak points are about price clarity and who the plans are built for. Each one below comes from Signable's own pages, checked October 6, 2026, except point 4, which comes from reviewers.

  1. No dollar prices. Everything is in pounds, so a US buyer's real cost moves with the exchange rate and any card fees.
  2. No monthly plan on the page. Essentials is annual only. If your volume drops, the year is already paid.
  3. The overage fee is not published. Go past 300 envelopes on Essentials and you pay a per-envelope fee that the plans page and help article don't state.
  4. A changed envelope costs another envelope. Two reviewers, in 2017 and 2022, say a document that needs a fix after sending costs another credit.
  5. No refund on a missed downgrade. The terms put cancelling on you: "No refunds will be issued if the Customer fails to downgrade to a Pay-As-You-Go (PAYG) Subscription Plan before the end of the billing period".
  6. The API needs the Business plan. Signable's API page says "Access the Signable API with our Business plan", and Business is priced on request.
  7. Fees can change. The terms let Signable update fees "upon giving no less than 30 days' prior notice", not within a paid plan's current billing period.

What a year of Signable costs at 5, 10 and 25 documents a month

For one sender, a year of Signable costs about $218 at 5 documents a month, $423 at 10 and $635 at 25, on the cheapest option that fits. The table counts one document as one envelope, uses Signable's GBP prices checked October 6, 2026, and converts at $1.3225 per pound (ECB, October 5, 2026), before VAT:

Volume, one senderCheapest Signable option1 year (GBP)1 year (about USD)3 years (about USD)Per document
5 a month (60 a year)Pay As You Go: one 50 and one 10 bundle£165$218$655£2.75
10 a month (120 a year)Pay As You Go: one 100 and two 10 bundles£320$423$1,270£2.67
25 a month (300 a year)Essentials, exactly 300 envelopes£480$635$1,904£1.60

At 25 a month, buying three 100-envelope bundles instead would cost £780 (about $1,032), so Essentials wins. At 10 a month, pay-as-you-go beats Essentials by £160 a year. Essentials only pays off from about 15 envelopes a month, or sooner if several people share it.

These totals assume every envelope is signed first time. A document you fix and resend uses another envelope, and UK buyers add VAT. For how these numbers sit in the market, see what e-signature software actually costs.

The tree in words:

  2. More than about 15 envelopes a month across the team, or you want your branding: buy Essentials.
  3. Otherwise, buy pay-as-you-go bundles as you need them.

Is Signable legally binding in the US?

Signable's security page says it is "fully compliant" with the US ESIGN Act and UETA, which it describes as laws that give electronic signatures "the same legal status as handwritten ones".

The same page lists ISO 27001 certification, Cyber Essentials certification (a UK government-backed scheme), GDPR and "SSL 256-bit encryption".

The security page doesn't mention HIPAA or SOC 2 (checked October 6, 2026). If your US business needs either, pick a vendor that publishes them.

How I reviewed Signable

I and my team have used Signable. For this review I also read Signable's own pages and what its users wrote from 2017 to 2026, and checked everything again on October 6, 2026:

  • Vendor pages: the plans page and its envelope bundles panel, the help article on plan limits (updated October 5, 2026), the terms and conditions, the security page, the API page and the homepage.
  • Review platforms: Trustpilot reviews dated 2019 to 2026, including every 1, 2 and 3-star review; Capterra and Software Advice reviews dated 2017 to 2025; and G2 reviews dated 2018 and 2026. GetApp shows the same reviews as Capterra. Product Hunt has one rating and no written review.
  • Forums: Hacker News comments from 2021 and 2023. The one Reddit thread I found that names Signable, from 2023, has no first-hand review in it, so no Reddit post is quoted.
  • App stores and Google reviews: I found no Signable app on the App Store or Google Play, and I could not read Signable's Google reviews directly, so none are quoted.
  • Exchange rate: the European Central Bank reference rate for October 5, 2026, $1.3225 per pound.

Who should skip Signable, and what to use instead

Keep Signable if:

  • you are a UK team with several senders and steady volume: unlimited users on Essentials is hard to beat
  • you need bulk send, Teams or the API today, and are happy to talk to sales about Business
  • you want a UK phone line and a UK company behind your signatures

If your business needs HIPAA or SOC 2, go with a vendor that publishes them; if you just need your business documents signed without paying extra for that, use SignWith.

Skip Signable if you are one or two people in the US who want a simple way to get a document signed, a few times a month and unevenly, priced in dollars with no annual plan. That is who we built SignWith for.

SignWith has no seats and no subscription. You buy credits, and a credit is used only when a document is signed. Every signed document uses one of your free monthly documents or a credit, including one that only you sign, and a declined, voided or expired document uses none.

  • Upload a PDF, JPEG or PNG, add signature, date, text and checkbox fields, and set the signing order.
  • Your recipients sign in the browser on any device, with no account.
  • Every completed document comes with a Certificate of Completion that records timestamps, IP addresses, device and browser details and email events, sealed with a SHA-256 hash.

Here is the same year at all three volumes. Signable prices checked October 6, 2026 in GBP and converted at $1.3225 per pound; SignWith prices render from our pricing data, and the free monthly documents continue after you buy packs.

25 a month$635 (Essentials)264 paid documents: the Lifetime Deal at $149 one-time, cheaper than buying packs

At today's prices and exchange rate that saves about $199 (91%) at 5 a month, $366 (87%) at 10 and $486 (77%) at 25, in the first year. Over 3 years, Signable comes to about $655, $1,270 and $1,904 at those volumes, against the Lifetime Deal at $149 one-time, once.

Signable's API comes with the Business plan, which is priced on request, and Signable has no official MCP server. The only Signable MCP server I found is an unofficial community prototype listed in September 2026, whose own page says it has "not yet been run against the live API". SignWith takes a different route:

  • An API and an MCP server on every account. SignWith has a REST API and an MCP server for AI assistants such as Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor and VS Code, so your own code or your assistant can send documents for signature.
  • The same credits as the app. No subscription, no developer plan, 3 free documents a month, then you buy credits, and a credit is used only when a document is signed.
  • The same fit. The API doesn't change who SignWith suits: a UK team with many senders and steady volume may still be better off on Signable.

SignWith templates, bulk send, reminders, team accounts and integrations are coming soon, so if you need any of those today, Signable is the better buy. SignWith is used by 1,000+ businesses, and you can start free with no card.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Does Signable have a free plan?

No. Signable's plans page shows Pay As You Go bundles from £30 for 10 envelopes, Essentials at £480 plus VAT a year, and Business and Enterprise on request (checked October 6, 2026). Its terms describe a free trial, after which an account with no plan chosen moves to Pay As You Go, with no fees unless you buy.

Does Signable charge in US dollars?

No. Signable's plans page lists prices in pounds only, with no currency selector. At the European Central Bank rate of $1.3225 per pound on October 5, 2026, Essentials at £480 is about $635 and a 100-envelope bundle at £260 is about $344, before tax and any card fees.

What is a Signable envelope?

Signable defines an envelope as a digital package containing one or more documents sent together for signing. Several documents in one envelope count as one. Reviewers say a document that needs a fix after sending goes out in a new envelope, which uses another one.

What happens if I go over my Signable allowance?

On Essentials you are charged an overage fee for each extra envelope, added to your next payment. Signable does not publish the rate and its help article asks you to contact support for it. Extra bundles are sold on Business and Enterprise only (checked October 6, 2026).

Does Signable have an API or an MCP server?

Signable has an API with webhooks, and its API page says access comes with the Business plan, which is priced on request. Signable has no official MCP server for AI assistants; the only one I found is an unofficial community prototype (checked October 6, 2026).

Can a signer save a long Signable form and finish it later?

No. In April 2026 Signable told a Trustpilot reviewer that the signing page does not auto-save progress, for security reasons, so a form has to be completed in one sitting on the same device.
