RightSignature Review 2026: Pricing, Features & Honest Verdict
RightSignature review: no longer sold alone, so new buyers need ShareFile Premium with three seats minimum, $936 a year, plus what its users say, good and bad.
RightSignature is the e-signature tool that Citrix bought in 2014 and folded into ShareFile, which Progress Software now owns. In October 2026 you can no longer buy it on its own: ShareFile's RightSignature page says "We are no longer selling a standalone e-signature solution."
A new buyer gets RightSignature's signing inside ShareFile Premium, at $26 per user a month on annual billing or $28.59 monthly, with a minimum of 3 users. So one person who only wants to sign contracts pays for three seats: $936 a year before the first signature.
My RightSignature review in one line: a capable signing tool for a team of three or more that also needs ShareFile's client portal, storage and compliance features, and a poor buy for anyone who only needs documents signed.

RightSignature review verdict: who it's for and who should skip it
RightSignature is worth paying for when a team of three or more already needs what ShareFile sells: secure file storage, a client portal, document requests, and compliance features. Then e-signature comes inside Premium at no extra cost, with templates, bulk send and knowledge-based authentication (KBA) included, and a cap of 100,000 documents a month that most teams will never reach.
It is poor value when you only need signatures. Since RightSignature is no longer sold on its own, the smallest way in is three Premium seats on a plan whose billing cycle stays fixed for the term.
Best for: accounting, legal, financial and health care teams of 3 or more who share files with clients and want signing in the same place; existing RightSignature customers whose accounts still work.
Skip if: you are one person or a pair, you sign a few documents a month, you want month-to-month freedom after picking annual billing, or you want an AI assistant to send documents through an MCP server.

What users say about RightSignature, 2013 to 2026
Most RightSignature reviews are from 2018 to 2024, from the years when it was still sold on its own. The newest RightSignature review I could read is a 1-star SoftwareFinder review from December 2025. The one 2026 card below is a Trustpilot review of ShareFile as a whole company, labelled as such.
Several SoftwareFinder reviews carry the same names and points as Capterra reviews, in different wording, so some may come from the same people. Each card is copied as written, dated, and linked to where it was posted.
Pricing and billing: "One of the cons of Citrix RightSignature is its cost"
Several of the price complaints compare RightSignature with other tools, and all of them date from 2022 to 2023, before ShareFile's October 2023 announcement that RightSignature would be merged into ShareFile. Today the cheapest way in is three ShareFile Premium seats, covered below.
“One of the cons of Citrix RightSignature is its cost. The pricing plans are higher compared to other similar software options in the market. The number of documents that can be signed also varies depending on the pricing plan, so this should be taken into account when considering whether Citrix RightSignature is the right choice for your business.”
A non-incentivized review that also rated RightSignature 5 out of 5.
“It’s expensive and I’m dissatisfied with the communication level from customer service.”
“The service has become overpriced and less efficient. Key features have been removed, and customer service is volatile. I switched to a cheaper, more functional alternative that I use daily with much satisfaction.”
A 3-star review titled "Overpriced for the features offered".
“The main con for me is that the UI flow can be complicated and time-consuming to navigate, especially for newbies. Over time the cost has become much higher than its competitors.”
A 4-star review titled "Has it's pros but the price is quite high".
“Probably will find better price/quality in similar products”
The reviewer's advice to someone considering RightSignature. Info-Tech notes the reviewer received a gift card for the review.
“Bit pricey. However, you save time and often make up for the price compared to chasing clients around for signatures”
An incentivized 4-star review.
“For an accounting firm, DocuSign is incredibly expensive but this service is priced correctly.”
“The pricing under my old contract was attractive, although the workflow is quite basic.”
Written in the review's "Pros" field, in a 3-star review.
ShareFile's Trustpilot page has no review about e-signature, but its billing complaints matter here, because new RightSignature buyers now pay ShareFile. These are about ShareFile as a whole company.
“The next thing is I receive an invoice for $936, which is the annual subscription, which I never subscribed to.”
One reviewer's account of ShareFile billing, in a 1-star review about ShareFile as a whole company. He writes that he chose Premium at $85 a month, month to month, and that ShareFile later refunded the $936 and canceled his account.
“When I call to cancel, they won't let you, and you are forced to pay the full year (in our case).”
A 1-star review.
“Sharefile added licenses to my renewal without my authorization.”
A 1-star review.
ShareFile's billing FAQ says your chosen billing cycle "remains fixed for the term of the subscription" and that moving from annual back to monthly "is not currently supported" (checked October 8, 2026).
Support: blocked accounts and slow replies
Capterra rates RightSignature's customer service 3.9, below its 4.4 for ease of use. The written complaints describe paying customers who were cut off or blocked, and support that answered slowly or not at all.
“customer service team lie on the phone about "not being able to hear you" as soon as you ask a question that they can't be bothered helping with. our account is fully paid up to date yet the account is currently blocked and tech support pretend we dont have an account.”
A non-incentivized review titled "Shocking customer service", 1 out of 5 for customer service.
“There seems to be no investment in the product anymore, and the service has been unreliable. I've been cut off from service without warning, and the UI feels weak. Automation is poor and sequencing signatures can be difficult.”
A 3-star review titled "Unreliable... Have been cut off from service without prior warning."
“The support for this product has been all but dropped.”
From a review that rates likeliness to recommend 3 out of 10.
“Customer service could definitely be better. I have experienced delayed responses from the team when facing issues.”
The only complaint in a 5-star review.
“Based on my experience in the UK, customer service has been poor.”
A 4-star review.
“The customer service is good, and the platform is user-friendly and secure.”
Ease of use: easy to learn, hard to change a sent document
Many reviewers call RightSignature easy to learn. The complaints are about what happens once a document is prepared: you can't edit it in the workflow, fields land in odd places, and one 2025 reviewer calls the whole thing slow and buggy.
“there's not enough time in the day. It's slow, buggy, doesn't process well, doesn't download well, etc... it's a constant headache.”
A 1-star review titled "The WORST Document eSignature Software", the newest RightSignature review I could read.
“The only con I see with this software is that they should allow the user to make changes on the final review screen just prior to emailing the form. If any last minute changes need to be made, you have to re-create the document and add all recipients and fields again.”
An incentivized 5-star review.
“I could not edit a document during the workflow so I have to start all over if I need to make changes. The extra step at login could also be simplified.”
A 5-star review.
“It was difficult to create templates and had issues with protecting certain text (ex. social security numbers) for certain HR documents. Could also not save work along the way.”
“Super fast and easy to use. But a complete design failure at field box placements. When choosing a field you want to place somewhere on a document, the field boxes populate in wonkey and strange sizes and placements. Almost every box I place, I have to readjust the size and placement. Definitely needs some work on field population.”
A 3-star review, the only one on RightSignature's Trustpilot page.
“I have had difficulty adding two signers to a document, as it defaults to putting the first signer on everything. This might just be user error on my part.”
A 5-star review.
“Overall UX”
The answer to what the reviewer dislikes most, in a review titled "Hard to use, disappointing product".
“I have been using Right Signature for several years now and have found it to be a great solution for my e-signature needs. It is simple to learn and simple to use.”
“Easy to use after to use it a couple times. Low learning curve”
Signer experience: works on any device, with gaps around order and mistakes
Reviewers like that clients can sign on any device without printing. The complaints are about signing order, clients who found it complicated, and a signer who had no way to say a contract reached the wrong person.
“The multi-signing feature could be improved. It requires signatures to be completed in order, which can lead to confusion if the second signer opens it first.”
A 5-star review.
“I find some aspects complicated and my clients dont like it. The navigation often causes more inconvenience than help.”
A 4-star review.
“I was hoping there was somewhere in rightsignature to say that the contract was sent to the wrong address but nope all you can do is sign the thing.”
A signer who received a contract meant for someone else.
“It also works seamlessly on desktops, laptops, tablets, and smartphones, so users can sign documents from anywhere.”
“Great for our business needs! It is the fastest way to receive signed authorization by client, you can upload any form and send it to partners/customers to sign.”
An incentivized 5-star review.
“Available in all Internet enabled devices.”
Info-Tech notes the reviewer received a gift card for the review.
Features, investment, the API and MCP
The sharpest feature complaints are about stagnation: reviews signed Bernd on Capterra and SoftwareFinder (March 2023) and Jesse L. on Info-Tech SoftwareReviews (September 2024) say they saw little investment in the product. The one API comment I found is negative.
“The product is very barebones and doesn't offer a great experience. It breaks relatively often, disallowing simple actions like download offline randomly.”
From a review titled "A disappointment that leaves a lot to be desired."
“Compare the feature list and offerings of RightSignature with other industry leaders before commiting to what is essentially a dead application.”
The same reviewer's advice to buyers.
“At least we couldn't see much serious investment in the product.”
Shown in Capterra's pros and cons summary.
“There's no sandbox version available for integrating with other platforms and the API documentation is terrible.”
A 4-star review.
“I think the installation could be easier and it does not have as many features as Adobe.”
“Sounds like there's pretty clear evidence present on the RightSignature site, but they really need to provide a way to verify a document without the site being up and intact. That certification page is basically worthless otherwise.”
Posted in a Hacker News discussion of a blog post titled "Investigating a Forged PDF".
“Due to its connection to ShareFile, both products interact well with each other.”
What the same reviewer liked most.
“Right Signature also has several security features you can add to documents to verify the recipients ID and help prevent fraud.”
I found no user review about RightSignature having or lacking an MCP server. Its API and its missing MCP server are covered below.
Can you still buy RightSignature in 2026?
Not on its own. ShareFile's RightSignature page, checked October 8, 2026, answers the question in its FAQ: "We are no longer selling a standalone e-signature solution." The same FAQ says: "You should purchase the ShareFile Premium plan. With this plan, you'll receive all the e-signature you need with KBA at no extra cost."
Existing customers are treated differently. The same page still offers a "RightSignature login" and says: "Don't worry the features and use cases you know and love from RightSignature won't be changing."
So there are two kinds of RightSignature user in 2026:
- Existing RightSignature customers, who still log in to RightSignature.
- New buyers, who can only get RightSignature's signing inside ShareFile Premium or a higher ShareFile plan.
How RightSignature ended up inside ShareFile
- Mar 2009RightSignature launchesAn "Ask HN: Please review my app" thread for RightSignature.com is posted on March 10, 2009.
- Oct 2014Citrix buys RightSignatureIt is added to Citrix ShareFile.
- Oct 9, 2023ShareFile announces the mergeA ShareFile blog post says RightSignature "will soon be merged" into ShareFile.
- Oct 31, 2024Progress buys ShareFileProgress Software completes the $875 million acquisition.
- Oct 2026Not sold aloneNew buyers get e-signature with ShareFile Premium, minimum 3 users.
RightSignature's API page still names a "ShareFile Industry Advantage" plan, but that plan is not on ShareFile's plans page today (checked October 8, 2026). If an article quotes an Industry Advantage price, it is out of date.
What RightSignature is and its key features
RightSignature is an e-signature tool: you upload a document, place fields, add signers and send it; signers sign in the browser on a desktop, tablet or phone. Inside ShareFile, signed documents save back to your ShareFile account automatically, per the plans page FAQ.
Here is what each ShareFile plan includes for signing, per ShareFile's plans page, checked October 8, 2026:
| Feature | Advanced | Premium | Enterprise | Virtual Data Room |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| E-signature, up to 100,000 documents a month per account | No | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| Knowledge-based authentication (KBA), included | No | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| Document templates ready to send for signature | No | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| Bulk send | No | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| Document packager (several files in one signing package) | No | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| Request lists for client files | No | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| ShareFile developer API | Yes | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| HIPAA eligible, with a signed BAA | No | Yes | Yes | Yes |
Advanced, Premium and Enterprise start with 3TB of storage per account (1TB per license, aggregated); Virtual Data Room includes 1 GB per license. The Premium card also lists an "Enhanced client portal", workflow automation and "AI-powered document automation and generation".
What RightSignature does well
RightSignature's strengths are real, and most of them favor a team that wants ShareFile anyway.
- E-signature at no extra cost on Premium. Signing, templates, bulk send and the document packager are all included, not sold as add-ons.
- KBA included. ShareFile's plans page says "Use included KBA on e-signature documents to verify the identity of clients."
- A very high cap. 100,000 documents a month per account is more than almost any team will send.
- Signing and files in one place. Signed documents save back to your ShareFile account automatically, per the plans page.
- Easy to learn. Many reviewers say so, and Capterra rates ease of use 4.4.
- A free trial. The Premium trial page offers a "14 Day Free Trial!"
RightSignature pricing in 2026 (checked October 2026)
RightSignature has no price of its own any more. You pay for a ShareFile plan, per user, with a minimum of 3 users. Here is what ShareFile's plans page listed on October 8, 2026:
| Plan | Billed annually | Billed monthly | Minimum users | E-signature |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Advanced | $16.50 a user a month | $18.15 a user a month | 3 | No |
| Premium | $26.00 a user a month | $28.59 a user a month | 3 | Yes |
| Enterprise | $35.00 a user a month | $42.00 a user a month | 3 | Yes |
| Virtual Data Room | $69.30 a user a month | $77.00 a user a month | 5 | Yes |
The rest of the terms, from the same page:
- Three seats minimum. Premium at the annual rate is $78 a month for 3 users, $936 a year. On monthly billing, 3 users cost $85.77 a month, $1,029.24 a year.
- Your billing cycle is fixed. "Your selected billing cycle remains fixed for the term of the subscription." You can move from monthly to annual, but "downgrading from annual or multi-year billing back to monthly is not currently supported."
- No free plan. There is a 14-day free trial of Premium.
- Enterprise adds security tools, such as user provisioning, security monitoring, data loss protection and unusual-activity detection, not more signing features.
KBA identity checks are not a paid extra on Premium: the plans page calls it "included KBA", and the RightSignature FAQ says Premium gives you e-signature "with KBA at no extra cost".

- ShareFile plans page
- 14 days
- The free trial of Premium; there is no free plan
- ShareFile Premium trial page
- 60

- RightSignature API getting started page
Does RightSignature have an API or an MCP server?
The API. Yes. RightSignature's API page describes REST APIs to prepare documents and forms, send documents and templates for signature, and remind signers. Step one on that page reads: "Purchase a ShareFile Premium or ShareFile Industry Advantage plan or contact an API specialist to obtain a trial account with API access. Trial accounts do not provide API functionality by default."
Once on the right plan, you request an API key from inside your RightSignature account and sign requests with the approved key. The page lists rate limits of 60 document send calls a minute and 240 an hour, and 10 and 40 on the older v1 API (checked October 8, 2026). I found no separate API price.
The MCP server. No. I found no official RightSignature or ShareFile MCP server, so you can't connect an AI assistant such as Claude or ChatGPT to RightSignature through an MCP server of its own (checked October 8, 2026).
Is RightSignature secure and compliant?
ShareFile's trust center lists a ShareFile SOC 2 Type II audit report, a ShareFile HIPAA certificate and a Progress Software ISO 27001 certificate, with no dates shown (checked October 8, 2026).
The plans page says HIPAA is "Available only in ShareFile Premium. Certain features may be limited or unavailable. Customers must have a signed BAA in place with ShareFile (Progress Software Corporation)." It ticks HIPAA on Premium, Enterprise and Virtual Data Room.
For signers, ShareFile's e-signature page describes a downloadable signing certificate with timestamps, IP addresses, email verification and the signature methods used.
Where RightSignature falls short
The weak points are mostly in how you have to buy it. Points 1 to 4 come from ShareFile's and RightSignature's own pages, checked October 8, 2026; points 5 to 7 come from the reviews above.
- Not sold alone. New buyers must buy ShareFile Premium or higher, a file-sharing suite, to get signing.
- Three seats minimum. One sender pays for 3 users: $936 a year on annual billing.
- The cheaper plan has no signing. ShareFile Advanced, at $16.50, does not include e-signature.
- No MCP server, and the API needs Premium. Trial accounts do not get API access by default.
- Support and account access. Reviewers describe a paid account that was blocked, service cut off without warning, and slow replies; Capterra rates customer service 3.9.
- No edits once a document is in the workflow. Reviewers from 2018 to 2023 say a last-minute change means starting the document again.
- Signs of stagnation. Reviewers in 2023 and 2024 say they saw little investment in the product, and ShareFile said in 2023 that RightSignature would be merged into ShareFile.
What a year of RightSignature costs at 5, 10 and 25 documents a month
For one sender, a year of RightSignature costs $936 at any volume, because the smallest purchase is three ShareFile Premium seats. Prices checked October 8, 2026 on ShareFile's plans page:
| Volume, one sender | Plan that includes signing | 1 year, annual billing | 1 year, monthly billing | 3 years, annual | Per document, annual |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 5 a month (60 a year) | Premium, 3 seats minimum | $936 | $1,029.24 | $2,808 | $15.60 |
| 10 a month (120 a year) | Premium, 3 seats minimum | $936 | $1,029.24 | $2,808 | $7.80 |
| 25 a month (300 a year) | Premium, 3 seats minimum | $936 | $1,029.24 | $2,808 | $3.12 |
The price does not change with volume, so the per-document cost falls the more you send. For a team of three who all use ShareFile, the same $936 a year buys three full seats of file sharing, client portal and signing.
Which RightSignature plan fits you
Match the plan to whether you need ShareFile, not to signing alone.
| You are | Plan | Why |
|---|---|---|
| An existing RightSignature customer | Keep your RightSignature login | ShareFile says the features won't be changing |
| A team of 3 or more that shares files with clients and signs | ShareFile Premium, $26 a user a month annual | Signing, KBA, templates, bulk send and the client portal |
| A team that needs HIPAA with a BAA | Premium or higher | HIPAA is not on Advanced |
| A team that needs user provisioning and security monitoring | Enterprise, $35 a user a month annual | Enterprise adds those security tools |
| A team that only needs file sharing | Advanced, $16.50 a user a month annual | No e-signature on this plan |
| One or two people who only need documents signed | Probably not RightSignature | Three seats minimum; see the last section |
Which RightSignature route fits you
- YesGoKeep using your RightSignature login
- NoWill a team of 3 or more use ShareFile file sharing too?
- YesGoShareFile Premium, signing included
- NoCheck firstThree seats for signing alone: consider skipping
- Yes
The tree in words:
- Already a RightSignature customer: keep your login, since ShareFile says the features won't be changing.
- A team of 3 or more that will use ShareFile's file sharing as well: ShareFile Premium includes signing.
- Anyone else: you would be paying for three seats of a file-sharing suite to sign documents, so look at the last section.
How I reviewed RightSignature
This review is based on RightSignature's public pages, pricing and user reviews. I read RightSignature's own pages and what its users wrote from 2013 to 2026, and checked everything again on October 8, 2026:
- Vendor pages: the ShareFile plans page with its feature table and billing FAQ, the RightSignature page and FAQ on the ShareFile site, the Premium free trial page, the RightSignature API getting started page, the ShareFile trust center, and ShareFile's October 9, 2023 blog post on native e-signature. The ownership date and price come from Progress Software's October 31, 2024 press release.
- Review platforms: Capterra (the first page of its 151 reviews; the other pages would not load for me), all 23 SoftwareFinder reviews, the 5 reviews Info-Tech SoftwareReviews shows (it counts 7), RightSignature's single Trustpilot review, and ShareFile's 21 Trustpilot reviews, labelled as whole-company reviews. Software Advice and GetApp would not load. G2 has no RightSignature product page.
- App stores: I found no RightSignature app in the Apple App Store or Google Play; the App Store rating above is for ShareFile's own app.
- Forums and social: Hacker News threads and comments that mention RightSignature. I searched Reddit, X and LinkedIn and found no post about RightSignature that I could quote.
Who should skip RightSignature, and what to use instead
Keep RightSignature if you are an existing customer whose account works, or a team of three or more that wants ShareFile's file sharing, client portal, templates, bulk send or KBA checks in one place. For HIPAA with a signed BAA, go with ShareFile Premium; to just get business documents signed without paying for that, use SignWith.
Skip RightSignature if you are one or two people who want a simple way to get a document signed, a few times a month, without paying for three seats of a file-sharing suite. That is who we built SignWith for.
SignWith has no seats and no subscription. You buy credits, and a credit is used only when a document is signed. Every signed document uses one of your free monthly documents or a credit, including one that only you sign, and a declined, voided or expired document uses none.
- Upload a PDF, JPEG or PNG, add signature, date, text and checkbox fields, and set the signing order.
- Your recipients sign in the browser on any device, with no account.
- Every completed document comes with a Certificate of Completion that records timestamps, IP addresses, device and browser details and email events, sealed with a SHA-256 hash.
10 signed documents a month for a year, one sender
- SignWith, cheapest packs84 paid documents: 1 x Basic + 1 x Pro + 1 x Business$57
- SignWith Lifetime Dealone-time, unlimited credits$149
- RightSignature ShareFile Premium, 3 seats minimum, annual$936 per year$936
Here is the same year at all three volumes. RightSignature prices checked October 8, 2026; SignWith prices render from our pricing data, and the free monthly documents continue after you buy packs.
| Volume | RightSignature, 1 year (Premium, 3 seats, annual) | SignWith, 1 year |
|---|---|---|
| 5 a month | $936 | 3 free a month cover 36 documents; one Pro pack covers the other 24 for $19 |
| 10 a month | $936 | 84 paid documents: one Business, one Pro and one Basic pack, $29 plus $19 plus $9 |
| 25 a month | $936 | 264 paid documents: the Lifetime Deal at $149 one-time, cheaper than buying packs |
At today's prices that saves $917 (98%) at 5 a month, $879 (94%) at 10 and $787 (84%) at 25, in the first year. Over 3 years, RightSignature comes to $2,808 at any of those volumes on annual billing, against the Lifetime Deal at $149 one-time.
RightSignature has no MCP server of its own, and its REST API needs a ShareFile Premium plan, three seats at least, with an approved API key. SignWith takes a different route:
- An API and an MCP server on every account. SignWith has a REST API and an MCP server for AI assistants such as Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor and VS Code, so your own code or your assistant can send documents for signature.
- The same credits as the app. No subscription, no developer plan, 3 free documents a month, then you buy credits, and a credit is used only when a document is signed.
- The same fit. The API doesn't change who SignWith suits: a team of three that wants file sharing, a client portal and signing from saved templates today should still look at ShareFile Premium, because SignWith templates are coming soon.
SignWith templates, reminders, bulk send, team accounts and integrations are coming soon, and SignWith offers no KBA identity checks, so if you need any of those today, RightSignature inside ShareFile is the better buy. SignWith is used by 1,000+ businesses, and you can start free with no card.
No subscription. You buy credits, and a credit is used only when a document is signed. One credit covers one signed document, however many people sign it.
- Unlimited credits
- Never expires
- One-time payment

Frequently asked questions
Is RightSignature discontinued?
- Not for existing customers. ShareFile still offers a RightSignature login and says the features "won't be changing". But it is no longer sold on its own: ShareFile's FAQ says "We are no longer selling a standalone e-signature solution" and tells new buyers to purchase ShareFile Premium (checked October 8, 2026).
Who owns RightSignature?
- Progress Software. Citrix bought RightSignature in October 2014 and added it to ShareFile, and Progress completed its $875 million acquisition of ShareFile on October 31, 2024. ShareFile pages now carry a Progress Software copyright.
How much does RightSignature cost?
- There is no standalone price. E-signature comes with ShareFile Premium at $26 per user a month billed annually or $28.59 billed monthly, with a minimum of 3 users, so at least $936 a year on annual billing. ShareFile Advanced, at $16.50, has no e-signature (checked October 8, 2026).
Is there a free RightSignature plan?
- No. ShareFile offers a 14-day free trial of Premium, which includes e-signature, but no free plan (checked October 8, 2026).
Is RightSignature HIPAA compliant?
- ShareFile's plans page says HIPAA is available on Premium and above, that certain features may be limited, and that customers must have a signed BAA with ShareFile (Progress Software Corporation). Its trust center lists a ShareFile HIPAA certificate (checked October 8, 2026).
Does RightSignature have an API or an MCP server?
- It has a REST API, which needs a ShareFile Premium plan (or a trial arranged with an API specialist) and an approved API key, with limits of 60 document send calls a minute and 240 an hour. It has no MCP server of its own (checked October 8, 2026).
E-signature rules vary by country, state and document type, so check with a legal professional that an e-signature suits your specific agreement before you rely on it.
