PandaDoc and Dropbox Sign both get documents signed, but they sell different things. PandaDoc is a document builder for proposals and quotes. Dropbox Sign, the tool formerly called HelloSign, is a plain signing tool for files you already wrote.

If you write and send sales documents (proposals, quotes and contracts with pricing tables), buy PandaDoc. The editor and tracking are the product, and the signature is the last step.
If you send finished files for signature (a contract from Word, an NDA, a PDF form), buy Dropbox Sign. It is cheaper for one person, sends unlimited signature requests on paid plans, and asks nothing of you beyond uploading the file.

1. Building documents
Winner: PandaDoc
This is why PandaDoc exists. You build a proposal or quote in a drag-and-drop editor, drop in a pricing table and saved content, send it, and see when the client opens it. Payments, analytics and CRM sync sit around the document, and Business adds approval workflows and a content library.
Dropbox Sign does not build documents. You bring a finished file, place signature, date and text fields on it, and send. If your proposals already live in Word or Google Docs, that is all you need.
2. Signing finished files
Winner: Dropbox Sign
Dropbox Sign keeps the signing step short. Its pricing page lists these for paid plans (checked September 2026):
- Unlimited signature requests on Essentials, Standard and Premium.
- Signers pay nothing and need no account.
- 22 languages for senders and signers.
- Automatic email reminders and a non-editable audit trail.
- Integrations with Google Drive, Word and HubSpot.
PandaDoc also signs uploaded PDFs, but its interface is built around making the document. If you only upload and send, you pay for an editor you do not open.
3. Templates and bulk send
Winner: Dropbox Sign, for teams of two or more
Dropbox Sign Standard, at $25 per user a month billed yearly, includes 15 templates, bulk send, branding, an admin console and reporting. PandaDoc caps Free and Starter at 5 templates, and bulk send starts on Business at $49 per seat a month billed annually (both checked September 2026).
The catch is the seat minimum: Standard needs at least 2 users, so it starts at $600 a year. A solo sender who needs bulk send pays $588 a year for one PandaDoc Business seat, slightly less.
4. Sending limits
Winner: Dropbox Sign
Dropbox Sign's paid plans list unlimited signature requests, and the free plan's limit is clear: 3 signature requests a month, renewing every 30 days from sign-up, per the Dropbox Help Center. A bundle of documents sent to the same signers counts as one request.
5. Integrations and API
Winner: PandaDoc
PandaDoc Business includes CRM integrations, and PandaDoc's cheapest paid API plan is the Developer Plan at $40 a month after a free trial, for 40 documents a month. Its free API key allows 60 documents a year with a full sandbox (PandaDoc API pricing, checked September 2026).
Dropbox Sign's API starts at $75 a month or $900 a year for 50 requests a month, and Standard API is $250 a month or $3,000 a year (Dropbox Sign API pricing, checked September 2026). Its Salesforce integration is marked as an additional-cost add-on.
6. Security and compliance
Winner: Depends on the plan you buy
Both vendors publish their compliance details, so this is a fact check, not a judgment call. Here is what each listed in September 2026:
- PandaDoc: its pricing page lists SOC 2 Type II compliance on its plan table and marks HIPAA compliance as optional, so confirm with PandaDoc sales which plan includes it.
- Dropbox Sign: its pricing page lists SOC 2 Type II, ISO 27001 and GDPR. The Dropbox Help Center says HIPAA is only for customers on an annual Standard or Premium plan, with a signed BAA and a minimum contract value.
- The Dropbox Sign trade-off: once HIPAA is enabled, you cannot CC people on requests and completed PDFs are no longer emailed as copies.
If your business needs HIPAA or SOC 2, get the plan confirmed in writing by sales before you buy either one.
7. Pricing (checked September 2026)
Winner: Dropbox Sign
Both vendors lead with annual prices, so the headline number assumes a 12-month commitment. Here is what PandaDoc's pricing page listed:
- Free: $0, 5 documents a month (the plan card also says 60 a year), up to 5 templates, no credit card.
- Starter: $19 per seat a month billed annually, or $35 billed monthly.
- Business: $49 per seat a month billed annually, or $65 billed monthly.
- Enterprise: custom, "per-seat or per-document pricing".
Dropbox Sign's pricing page listed these regular prices:
- Free: 3 signature requests a month, one user.
- Essentials (1 user): $15 a month, billed monthly or yearly ($180 a year).
- Standard (2 or more users): $25 per user a month, billed monthly or yearly, starting at $600 a year for 2 users. For 5 or more users, Dropbox asks you to contact sales.
- Premium (5 or more users): custom quote.

For three senders sharing the work, the order changes: PandaDoc Starter is the cheapest of the three plans, but it has no bulk send and caps templates at 5, so Dropbox Sign Standard is the fairer match for PandaDoc Business.

8. Free plan
Winner: PandaDoc
PandaDoc Free sends 5 documents a month (60 a year) with no card and up to 5 templates. Dropbox Sign Free sends 3 signature requests a month, with unlimited self-signing. If your volume sits at 4 or 5 a month, PandaDoc Free is the only one of the two that costs nothing.

Winner: A tie, and both lose on price for light use
For PandaDoc, reviewers like the editor, templates and open tracking, and dislike paid add-ons, annual charges and contracts that expire and have to be resent.

What both tools miss: signing without a seat
Both PandaDoc and Dropbox Sign bill per seat, every month or every year, whether you send one document or fifty. Neither fits one or two people getting client contracts, NDAs and agreements signed a few times a month, unevenly.
