PandaDoc vs Adobe Sign: Which One Should You Actually Buy?
PandaDoc vs Adobe Sign: one sells a proposal builder, the other a PDF editor, and both bill per seat. Costs checked September 2026, who each fits, the catches.
PandaDoc and Adobe Acrobat Sign both collect e-signatures, but they solve different problems. PandaDoc is a proposal builder that happens to collect signatures. Adobe is signing sold inside a PDF editor.
I read both pricing pages in September 2026, pulled what users say on Capterra and Trustpilot, and compared the two across seven categories, with the cost of a year at 8 signed documents a month.

The bottom line: which one should you buy?
If you write and send sales documents (proposals, quotes, contracts built from templates), buy PandaDoc. The editor, pricing tables and open tracking are the product, and signing is the last step.
If you receive, fix and send PDFs most days, buy Adobe. You get a full editor, redaction and conversion, and e-signing comes with the plan you are already paying for.
If you do neither and only need a finished file signed a few times a month, both tools charge a monthly seat for a small part of what they do. The last section of this page covers that case.
Head-to-head: PandaDoc vs Adobe Sign by category
The table shows the plans a small business compares first, as each vendor listed them in September 2026.
| Feature | PandaDoc | Adobe Acrobat Sign |
|---|---|---|
| What you are buying | A document builder for proposals, quotes and contracts, with e-signing | A PDF editor with e-signing, from the Standard plan up |
| Cheapest paid plan | Starter: $19 per seat a month, billed annually | Acrobat Standard: $14.99 a month on an annual plan billed monthly |
| Team plan | Business: $49 per seat a month, billed annually | Acrobat Standard for teams $16.99 or Pro for teams $23.99 per license a month, annual |
| Free plan for sending | Yes, 5 documents a month | No free sending plan listed |
| Sending limit | Plan table says unlimited; the FAQ describes a limit with overage | Acrobat Sign user licenses: 150 transactions per user a year |
| Templates and bulk send | Up to 5 templates on Starter; bulk send from Business | Reusable e-sign templates and bulk send on Acrobat Pro |
| Cancelling early | Annual plans renew by the year | Fee of half the remaining annual commitment after 14 days |
Here is who wins each category, and each one is explained in the numbered sections below.
| Category | Winner | Why |
|---|---|---|
| 1. Building documents | PandaDoc | Drag-and-drop editor, pricing tables, saved content |
| 2. Editing PDFs | Adobe | A full PDF editor, converter and redaction |
| 3. Templates and bulk send | Adobe | Both on Acrobat Pro at $19.99, against PandaDoc Business at $49 |
| 4. Sending limits | Neither | PandaDoc's FAQ and plan table disagree; Adobe caps user licenses at 150 a year |
| 5. Security and compliance | Depends on plan | Both publish compliance details tied to specific plans |
| 6. Pricing | Adobe | Cheaper for one person and per team seat |
| 7. Free plan | PandaDoc | 5 documents a month; Adobe lists no free sending plan |
1. Building documents
Winner: PandaDoc
This is why PandaDoc exists. You build a proposal or quote in a drag-and-drop editor, drop in a pricing table and saved content, send it, and see when the client opens it. Business adds CRM integrations, approval workflows and a content library.
Adobe does not build sales documents. You bring a finished file, usually from Word, and send it for signature from Acrobat, Word, Teams or Salesforce, as Adobe lists.
2. Editing PDFs
Winner: Adobe
Adobe is best when the PDF itself is the job. Acrobat gives you a full editor, file conversion, form filling and, on Pro, redaction. If your office already pays for Acrobat, you may be paying for e-signing already.
PandaDoc accepts PDF uploads and lets you place fields on them, but it is not a PDF editor. If you fix contracts line by line before they go out, PandaDoc is the wrong tool.
3. Templates and bulk send
Winner: Adobe
Acrobat Pro, at $19.99 a month on an annual plan billed monthly, includes reusable e-sign templates, web forms and bulk send. PandaDoc caps Free and Starter at 5 templates, and bulk send starts on Business at $49 per seat a month billed annually (checked September 2026).
If you send the same agreement to many people, Adobe gets you there for less than half the price.
4. Sending limits
Winner: Neither
Both tools have a limit that the headline plan does not make obvious.
Adobe's help center adds a limit most buyers never see on the plans page: "Acrobat Sign plans sold as user licenses include 150 transactions per user per year unless otherwise stipulated in your contract." A transaction is each send to one or more signers.
5. Security and compliance
Winner: Depends on the plan you buy
Both vendors publish their compliance pages, so this is a fact check, not a judgment call. Here is what each listed in September 2026:
- PandaDoc: its pricing page lists SOC 2 Type II compliance on its plan table and marks HIPAA compliance as optional, so confirm with PandaDoc sales which plan includes it.
- Adobe: its HIPAA-Ready services page lists Adobe Acrobat Sign and says customers processing PHI "must have the correct license and a signed BAA with Adobe". Acrobat Standard and Acrobat Pro are not on that list.
If your business needs HIPAA or SOC 2, get the plan confirmed in writing by sales before you buy either one.
6. Pricing (checked September 2026)
Winner: Adobe
Both vendors lead with annual prices, so the headline number assumes a 12-month commitment. Here is what PandaDoc's pricing page listed:
- Free: $0, 5 documents a month (the plan card also says 60 a year), no credit card.
- Starter: $19 per seat a month billed annually, or $35 billed monthly, with unlimited document uploads and e-signatures and up to 5 templates.
- Business: $49 per seat a month billed annually, or $65 billed monthly, adding CRM integrations, custom branding, a content library, approval workflows, web forms and bulk send.
- Enterprise: custom, "per-seat or per-document pricing".
Adobe's plans page listed these prices:
- Acrobat Standard: $14.99 a month on an annual plan billed monthly, or $24.99 month to month. It lets you fill, sign and request e-signatures.
- Acrobat Pro: $19.99 a month on an annual plan billed monthly, or $29.99 month to month, adding reusable e-sign templates, web forms, bulk send and redaction.
- Team licenses: Acrobat Standard for teams at $16.99 and Acrobat Pro for teams at $23.99 per license a month, on an annual plan.
Adobe prints the catch under each annual price: "Fee applies up to half your remaining annual commitment if you cancel after 14 days." Prepaid annual team plans get no refund after 14 days.
The numbers that set your real price
What a year costs at 8 signed documents a month (96 a year), on the annual prices each vendor listed, before tax:
| Plan (annual) | Listed price | 1 user, 1 year | 3 users, 1 year | Sending limit |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| PandaDoc Starter | $19 per seat a month | $228 | $684 | Unlimited in the plan table; the FAQ describes a limit |
| PandaDoc Business | $49 per seat a month | $588 | $1,764 | Same as Starter |
| Acrobat Standard (one person) | $14.99 a month | $179.88 | Use team licenses | Not stated on the plans page |
| Acrobat Standard for teams | $16.99 per license a month | $203.88 | $611.64 | 150 transactions per user a year on Acrobat Sign user licenses |
| Acrobat Pro for teams | $23.99 per license a month | $287.88 | $863.64 | Same |
96 documents a year is more than PandaDoc Free's 5 a month and under Adobe's 150-transaction line. So the real choice for one person is Acrobat Standard at $179.88 or PandaDoc Starter at $228, and the gap widens with every seat.
7. What users like and complain about
Winner: A tie, and both lose on billing
Users of both tools praise the day-to-day signing and complain about billing. For PandaDoc, reviewers like the editor and open tracking and dislike paid add-ons and annual charges.
“I do not use e-signing very often for my business and PandaDoc is very user friendly for my clients as well as flexible to my budget.”
“I also like the e sign functionality and the ability to see when recipients open or view a document.”
“The ability to have dynamic documents, and easy to use template, and content libraries have shaved so much time off my schedule.”
“The pricing became difficult to justify, especially as many features I expected to be included required additional paid add-ons.”
“I do not love that it is not easy to edit a sent contract and also contracts expire which creates issues with having to resend and confusing clients.”
“Just dealt with their customer service as I saw a charge come through for the year. I wanted to go to a month by month plan.”
Review snapshot checked Sep 2026.
Adobe's reviews cover Acrobat as a whole, because Adobe sells signing inside Acrobat. The praise is for getting PDFs signed quickly; the complaints are about price for small users and the cancellation fee.
“The e-signature feature is especially valuable for my business, as it allows me to move deals forward quickly without delays. I also appreciate how professional and polished documents look when sent to clients.”
“I truly love Adobe Acrobat, it truly makes utilizing online forms, signatures in a PDF much easier and quicker.”
“I use it to sign digital documents, and to request e-signatures.”
“What I like least about Adobe Acrobat is that it can feel expensive, especially for individual users or small businesses who only need basic PDF features.”
“The interface can feel cluttered and unintuitive at times, especially for new users trying to navigate its many tools.”
“This is the first I've seen that charges you half of the yearly subscription fee if you cancel your MONTHLY plan.”

The tree in words: if you build proposals or quotes, pick PandaDoc. If you don't, but you edit PDFs most days, pick Adobe. If you do neither and sign a few documents a month, a free or pay-per-document plan covers you.
What both tools miss: signing without a seat
Both PandaDoc and Adobe charge per seat, every month, whether you send one document or fifty. Neither fits one or two people getting client contracts, NDAs and agreements signed a few times a month, unevenly.
SignWith has no seats and no subscription. You buy credits, and a credit is used only when a document is signed.
- Upload a PDF, JPEG or PNG, add signature, date, text and checkbox fields, and set the signing order.
- Your recipients sign in the browser on any device, with no account.
- Every completed document comes with a Certificate of Completion that records timestamps, IP addresses, device and browser details and email events, sealed with a SHA-256 hash.

Which is easier to use, PandaDoc or Adobe Sign?
- PandaDoc is easier if you build documents, because its drag-and-drop editor is the core of the product. Adobe is easier if you already work in Acrobat, although Capterra reviewers describe its interface as cluttered for new users.
Does PandaDoc have a free plan?
- Yes. PandaDoc Free lets you send 5 documents a month with no credit card, as listed on its pricing page in September 2026. Adobe lists no free plan for sending documents out for signature.
Can I cancel Adobe Acrobat at any time?
- Only on the month-to-month price. Adobe says a fee of up to half your remaining annual commitment applies if you cancel an annual plan after 14 days, and prepaid annual team plans get no refund after 14 days.
How many documents can I send with Adobe Sign?
- Adobe says Acrobat Sign plans sold as user licenses include 150 transactions per user per year unless your contract says otherwise. A transaction is each send of a document, or a set of related documents, to one or more signers.
E-signature rules vary by country, state and document type, so check with a legal professional that an e-signature suits your specific agreement before you rely on it.
