DocHub Review 2026: Pricing, Features & Honest Verdict
DocHub review: Free and Basic share 3 uses a month, so Pro is the plan for regular signing. Prices checked October 2026, 2026 user reviews, who should skip it.
DocHub is a PDF editor first and a signing tool second, and its price list shows it. Free and the $8 Basic plan share one limit of 3 uses a month across edits, sign requests and templates, so Pro is the only self-serve plan that lets you send documents for signature every week (DocHub pricing page, checked October 2026).
My DocHub review in one line: a very good PDF editor with signing built in, priced fairly for steady senders, and easy to overpay for if you mainly need a few signatures a month. The main 2026 billing complaint: a full year charged up front when reviewers expected to pay for one month.

DocHub review verdict: who it's for and who should skip it
DocHub is worth paying for when you edit PDFs every week: rewriting text, whiting out lines, merging files, building forms, faxing. Signing comes with it. It is poor value when signatures are the main job and your volume is low, because the only plan with unlimited sign requests costs the same at 5 a month as at 50.
Best for: students, teachers, freelancers and small teams who live in Google Drive and Gmail and need a full PDF editor; steady senders who send more than about 20 documents a month; teams that want bulk send and in-person signing on Pro.
Skip if: you send a few documents a month for signature and need no PDF editing, you want to pay month to month without checking the billing period at checkout, or you need a HIPAA BAA without talking to sales.

What users say about DocHub in 2026
The scores are high, and the reason is worth knowing. Trustpilot's DocHub page says "This company invites their customers to review, whether positive or negative", and many 5-star reviews name the support agent who just helped. The 1-star reviews, 3% of the total, are often about billing and the plan limits.
“I love DocHub for signing documents and emailing them back to the original party. It's an amazing service: easy-to-use and free, without watermarks...”
“I had some trouble with a fraudulent charge on my card, and Sasha was able to help me right away to ensure I got the correct amount of money back...”
“I emailed DocHub a refund request duting the late evening. I received a very courteous response and refund the next morning...”
“They took a full year of funds; I only asked for one month, and it still didn't work. I'm very disappointed and am waiting for a full refund...”
“Very limited basic signature subscription services that seem to create enough frustration to try to push into the higher tier. Support just makes a comment and closes ticket...”
“Spent hours trying to get their clunky interface to do what I wanted. Eventually just gave up and switched to another platform.”
Review snapshot checked Oct 2026.
Below, the complaints are grouped by theme and given in full, with a few of the strongest positives. Every quote is from 2026, copied as written, and linked to where it was posted. Most come from Trustpilot, the rest from the App Store, Google Play and Capterra. I could not open Reddit threads about DocHub, so none are quoted.
Pricing and billing: the loudest complaint
Two things come up again and again: a plan the reviewer believed was monthly that was charged for a year, and a free plan that now stops after 3 uses.
“I subscribed to DocHub at what I thought was a $12 per month price that could be cancelled at a later month. I only needed the one free month and one subscription month and they billed me for the full year in advance at $144...”
From a 5-star review about the refund that followed.
“They took a full year of funds; I only asked for one month, and it still didn't work. I'm very disappointed and am waiting for a full refund...”
“Despite uninstalling the app, they pushed through a massive $119 renewal charge without clear or conspicuous warning...”
About the iPhone app.
“Dochub is a scam site, they take money without consent and then offer to refund the money...”
One reviewer's claim.
“Locks basic functionality behind a pro membership. When I last used it about a year ago, I was able to add text like my printed name for free...”
“Very limited basic signature subscription services that seem to create enough frustration to try to push into the higher tier...”
“I wish people would advertise truly it's not free used it a couple times and now they're wanting me to pay for upgrades not letting me share not letting me sign things I can't even turn in a timesheet and get paid by my company because they advertise for it to be free...”
About the Android app.
“IT SETS THE MONTHLY LIMIT FOR AN EDUCATOR??? I just had to delete the account.”
“The free version allows enough option to manage the 1-3 actions I need through a month...”
DocHub replies to many of these reviews on Trustpilot and asks for the account email. On the App Store, the developer replied to the $119 review that uninstalling the app does not cancel a subscription.
Customer support: fast refunds, short answers
Support is the bright spot in DocHub's 2026 reviews, and most of the praise is about refunds handled quickly. The one clear negative is about tickets closed without a fix.
“Support just makes a comment and closes ticket...”
“I emailed DocHub a refund request duting the late evening. I received a very courteous response and refund the next morning...”
“I really appreciated the no nonsense efficiency of the refund process...”
“I had some trouble with a fraudulent charge on my card, and Sasha was able to help me right away to ensure I got the correct amount of money back...”
“I was pleasantly surprised to find their technical support extremely helpful. They tailored their live demos so they were actual training for us...”
Trustpilot shows DocHub "Replied to 90% of negative reviews" and "Typically replies within 48 hours" (checked October 2026).
Ease of use: a busy editor
Ease of use splits by what you do. People who only sign find DocHub simple, while people editing longer documents describe a confusing interface and a cursor that jumps.
“Spent hours trying to get their clunky interface to do what I wanted. Eventually just gave up and switched to another platform.”
“I don't like how while typing on laptop after a while it goes to the beginning on its own and i end up typing in the beginning when I did not want to”
“Worst platform ever. Kept on trying to input information and it would just delete it...”
“Not intuitive to use.”
The whole of a 3-star review.
“The navigation of the app when editing is absolutely confusing - you need to develop an easy way to do exactly that, especially for first time-users.”
“Very happy with DocHub. I don't need them very often, but i cannot imagine a more user friendly company that offers the same service.”
Signer experience: easy to sign, one privacy setting to change
Signing is where DocHub's reviews are warmest. I found no 2026 review from someone who received a DocHub signing request, so these come from people signing their own documents. One long-time user adds a privacy caveat worth acting on.
“I love DocHub for signing documents and emailing them back to the original party. It's an amazing service: easy-to-use and free, without watermarks...”
“DocHub has made it easy for me to sign multiple-page documents electronically and save time.”
“I use this to sign documents and fill out pdf files. It's easy to use makes life way easier”
“One caveat: Your DocHub page is public by default. The documents are not public by default, but the fact that you have a DocHub page, plus your profile, is...”
The same reviewer adds this.
Features, and DocHub's API and MCP server
Feature complaints are mostly about edits that do not survive, with text that is lost or shrinks on download. One reviewer could not find an advertised feature, another's app crashed when scanning, and an iPhone user says the Done option does not stay open.
“Did not save anything I wrote down...”
About an hour or more of edits on a PDF.
“Once I download the completed copy of my document, the text will shrink down to a minuscule size...”
“they advertise that it's possible to remove the background from the PDF. I couldn't find any option to do this...”
“Couldn't even use the app when I downloaded it because it crashed over and over again when I tried to scan a doc and brought me back to my home screen.”
“Please fix the DONE option at the top right of document. It doesn't stay open so options can be chosen. It is INCREDIBLY FRUSTRATING.”
About the iPhone app.
On the App Store, the developer replied that the scanning crash was fixed in version 1.17.1. On the developer side, DocHub has no MCP server, and I found no public DocHub API documentation on its site (checked October 5, 2026). Its parent company's developer API is sold under SignNow, a separate product.
What DocHub is and its key features
DocHub is a browser-based PDF editor with e-signatures built in. It belongs to airSlate, whose other products, listed in DocHub's site footer, include SignNow, pdfFiller and US Legal Forms. DocHub's homepage claims "Over 100 million DocHub users worldwide."
Here is what each plan includes, per DocHub's pricing page, checked October 2026:
| Feature | Free | Basic | Pro | Site License |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Price shown on the pricing page | $0 | $8 a month | $12 a month | Contact sales |
| Edit existing text, sign requests, envelopes | 3 shared uses a month | 3 shared uses a month | Unlimited | Unlimited |
| Self sign and templates | Within the 3 uses | Unlimited | Unlimited | Unlimited |

Every plan includes the AI Assistant, merge, rotate and reorder pages, an audit trail, the iOS and Android apps, and integrations with Google Drive, Gmail, Dropbox, OneDrive and Google Classroom.
What DocHub does well
DocHub's strengths are real, and most of them are about PDFs rather than signatures.
- A real PDF editor. You can edit existing text, white out lines, add fillable fields, merge and reorder pages, and fax from Pro. Most signing tools only let you place fields on a finished file.
- Google-first. Google Drive, Gmail and Google Classroom work on every plan, which is why teachers and students use it.
- Free self-signing to start. Free signs without watermarks, as one 2026 reviewer points out, within the 3 shared uses.
- Fast refunds. Several 2026 reviewers describe a refund the next morning or straight away, including one who had been charged for a year.
- Security basics on every plan. The pricing page lists SOC2 Type II, GDPR and an audit trail on all plans (checked October 2026).
DocHub pricing in 2026 (checked October 2026)
DocHub's pricing page shows the prices below next to a "Billed Monthly / Billed Yearly Save 25%" switch, before tax. The page text does not say which billing period the $8 and $12 belong to.
| Plan | Price on DocHub's page | Billed monthly, per CheckThat.ai | Shared limit |
|---|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | $0 | 3 uses a month |
| Basic | $8 a month | $11 a month ($132 a year) | 3 uses a month for sign requests and text edits |
| Pro | $12 a month | $16 a month ($192 a year) | Unlimited sign requests |
| Site License | Let's talk | Custom | Unlimited |
DocHub does not publish its monthly-billed prices in the page text, so the middle column comes from a third party. CheckThat.ai (updated April 13, 2026) lists Pro at "~$12/month billed annually ($144/year) vs. $16/month ($192/year)". PDF Editify (September 2, 2026) also lists Pro at about $16 a month billed monthly.
A September 2026 Trustpilot reviewer confirms the yearly side: a "$12 per month" checkout was billed "$144" for the year. Before you pay, check the switch at checkout.
Three other DocHub pages disagree with the pricing page, checked October 2026:
- Its free plan guide, dated January 16, 2026, says free accounts can "sign 5 PDFs" and "request 3 eSignatures per month". The pricing page now puts all of that inside one shared limit of 3 uses.
- The same guide says usage runs on "a rolling 30-day period": a sign request sent December 17 frees its slot on January 17, not on the first of the month.
- A DocHub comparison page against Adobe Sign still says "Pro plans for US$19.99/mo." Treat it as out of date.

Where DocHub falls short
The weak points are the limit and the billing around the product. Each one below comes from DocHub's own pages, checked October 2026.
- Basic does not fix signing. Basic adds unlimited self-signing, templates and downloads, but sign requests, text edits and envelopes still "share a monthly limit of 3 uses."
- Every shared or downloaded PDF counts. DocHub's free plan guide says "Each PDF you shared, downloaded, or exported counts as one completed document toward your monthly limit."
- Plans renew on their own. The terms of service (last updated March 2, 2023) say: "The Agreement will automatically renew for successive subscription periods equal to your initial subscription period until one party terminates it."
- The refund promise and the terms differ. The pricing page shows a "180 Day Money Back Guarantee" badge without terms. The terms say "all fees are non-refundable, even if you are not using the Services", with a possible refund policy for dissatisfied first-time users.
- The trial ends on its own. The pricing FAQ says that once the 30-day Pro trial ends, "you will be automatically switched to a Free plan."
- HIPAA needs sales. "HIPAA (BAA Available)" is ticked only on the Site License.
What a year of DocHub costs at 5, 10 and 25 documents a month
Anyone sending more than 3 documents a month for signature needs Pro, so the yearly price is the same at every volume. The table uses DocHub's pricing page for the yearly rate and CheckThat.ai for the monthly-billed rate, checked October 2026, before tax.
| Volume, one sender | DocHub plan that fits | 1 year, billed yearly | 1 year, billed monthly (CheckThat.ai) | 3 years, billed yearly | Per sign request, billed yearly |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 5 a month (60 a year) | Pro | $144 | $192 | $432 | $2.40 |
| 10 a month (120 a year) | Pro | $144 | $192 | $432 | $1.20 |
| 25 a month (300 a year) | Pro | $144 | $192 | $432 | $0.48 |
Basic, at $96 a year, would cost less but cannot cover even 5 sign requests a month, because its 3 uses are shared with text edits. If you send 3 or fewer a month and edit nothing, Free covers you.
Which DocHub plan fits you
Match the plan to what you do in DocHub every week, not to the headline price.
| You are | Plan | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Someone who signs or sends 3 or fewer documents a month | Free | 3 shared uses on a rolling 30 days |
| A freelancer who fills and signs own forms, rarely sends | Basic, $8 a month | Unlimited self-sign, templates and downloads |
| Anyone sending more than 3 documents a month for signature | Pro, $12 a month | The only self-serve plan with unlimited sign requests |
| A team that needs bulk send, in-person signing or fax | Pro | Those start on Pro |
| An organization that needs a HIPAA BAA, Rooms or unlimited users | Site License, through sales | Only plan with "HIPAA (BAA Available)" |
| One person who needs a few signatures a month and no PDF editing | Probably not DocHub | See the last section |

How I reviewed DocHub
I and my team have used DocHub. For this review I also read DocHub's own pages and what its users wrote in 2026, and checked everything again on October 5, 2026:
- Vendor pages: the pricing page and its FAQ, the free plan guide of January 16, 2026, the terms of service, a DocHub comparison page and the site footer.
- Third-party pricing: CheckThat.ai and PDF Editify, for the monthly-billed prices DocHub does not print.
- Review platforms: Trustpilot reviews dated January to October 2026, Capterra, G2, the App Store listing and the Google Play listing. G2's review text and Reddit's threads could not be opened on the day I checked, and Product Hunt had no 2026 reviews.
Who should skip DocHub, and what to use instead
Keep DocHub if you need a real PDF editor, a team, bulk send or in-person signing today, or if you send more than about 20 documents a month every month. If your business needs a HIPAA BAA, go with DocHub's Site License; if you just need your business documents signed without paying extra for that, use SignWith.
Skip DocHub if you are one or two people who need a few documents signed a month, unevenly, and no PDF editing. That is who we built SignWith for.
SignWith has no seats and no subscription. You buy credits, and a credit is used only when a document is signed. Every signed document uses one of your free monthly documents or a credit, including one that only you sign, and a declined, voided or expired document uses none.
- Upload a PDF, JPEG or PNG, add signature, date, text and checkbox fields, and set the signing order.
- Your recipients sign in the browser on any device, with no account.
- Every completed document comes with a Certificate of Completion that records timestamps, IP addresses, device and browser details and email events, sealed with a SHA-256 hash.

- DocHub Pro, billed yearly$144 per year$144
- DocHub, billed monthly (CheckThat.ai) Pro$16 per month$192
Here is the same year, side by side, at all three volumes. DocHub prices checked October 2026; SignWith prices render from our pricing data, and the free monthly documents continue after you buy packs.
| Volume | DocHub Pro, 1 year billed yearly | SignWith, 1 year |
|---|---|---|
| 5 a month | $144 | 3 free a month cover 36 documents; one Pro pack covers the other 24 for $19 |
| 10 a month | $144 | 84 paid documents: one Business, one Pro and one Basic pack, $29 plus $19 plus $9 |
| 25 a month | $144 | 264 paid documents: the Lifetime Deal at $149 one-time, cheaper than buying packs |
At today's prices that saves $125 (87%) at 5 a month and $87 (60%) at 10 in the first year. At 25 a month, DocHub Pro billed yearly is $5 cheaper than the Lifetime Deal in year one. Over 3 years, DocHub Pro comes to $432 at any volume, against the Lifetime Deal at $149 one-time, once.
DocHub has no MCP server and no public API listed on its site (checked October 5, 2026). SignWith takes a different route:
- An API and an MCP server on every account. SignWith has a REST API and an MCP server for AI assistants such as Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor and VS Code, so your own code or your assistant can send documents for signature.
- The same credits as the app. No subscription, no developer plan, 3 free documents a month, then you buy credits, and a credit is used only when a document is signed.
- The same fit. The API doesn't change who SignWith suits: if you need a PDF editor or a HIPAA BAA, DocHub is still the better pick.
SignWith has no PDF editor, and SignWith templates, bulk send, reminders, team accounts and integrations are coming soon, so if you need any of those today, DocHub is the better buy. SignWith is used by 1,000+ businesses, and you can start free with no card.
No subscription. You buy credits, and a credit is used only when a document is signed. One credit covers one signed document, however many people sign it.
- Unlimited credits
- Never expires
- One-time payment

Frequently asked questions
Is DocHub free?
- Yes, with a limit. The Free plan costs $0, and editing existing text, self-signing, sign requests, templates and envelopes "share a monthly limit of 3 uses", per DocHub's pricing page (checked October 2026). DocHub's free plan guide says the limit runs on a rolling 30 days, not a calendar month.
How many signatures does the DocHub free plan allow?
- Up to 3 uses a month in total, and a sign request is one of them, shared with text edits, templates and envelopes. Basic, at $8 a month, keeps the same 3-use limit for sign requests. Pro has unlimited sign requests. Source: DocHub pricing page, checked October 2026.
Does DocHub charge yearly?
- It can. The pricing page shows Pro at $12 a month next to a "Billed Yearly Save 25%" switch, and a September 2026 Trustpilot reviewer was billed $144 for a year. CheckThat.ai lists Pro at $16 a month billed monthly. DocHub's terms say plans renew for the same period you first bought.
Can I get a refund from DocHub?
- Often, going by 2026 reviews: several reviewers describe fast refunds, including 11 months back on a yearly charge. The pricing page shows a "180 Day Money Back Guarantee" badge, while DocHub's terms (last updated March 2, 2023) say fees are non-refundable apart from a possible first-time-user policy. Ask support in writing.
Is DocHub safe, and does it offer a HIPAA BAA?
- DocHub's pricing page lists SOC2 Type II, GDPR and an audit trail on every plan, and "HIPAA (BAA Available)" only on the Site License, sold through sales (checked October 2026). One 2026 reviewer advises setting your DocHub profile to private, because the page is public by default.
Who owns DocHub, and does it have an API or MCP server?
- DocHub is part of airSlate, whose site footer also lists SignNow, pdfFiller and US Legal Forms. DocHub has no MCP server, and I found no public DocHub API documentation on its site (checked October 5, 2026).
E-signature rules vary by country, state and document type, so check with a legal professional that an e-signature suits your specific agreement before you rely on it.
