Add and rename signing parties
On this page
A signing party is a role, such as "Client" or "Freelancer", that owns a set of fields on your document. Every uploaded document starts with one party called 1st Party. The party is only a name for a set of fields; you enter the signer's email address later, when you send.
Rename a party
- In the editor, find SIGNING PARTIES in the right-hand panel.
- Click the pencil icon next to 1st Party.
- Type a clear name, such as "Client".
- Press Enter or click outside the box.

The name you choose appears on the submission page next to the recipient's email, so you can see who is signing at a glance. See Check the status of a document you sent.
Add another party
- Under SIGNING PARTIES, click Add new party.
- Rename it with the pencil icon.
- Select the party, then place its fields on the document.
The fields you place are listed under FIELDS of followed by that party's name. Check this list before sending, so each party has the fields they need and no more. See Add fields to a document.
When you only need one party
If you are the only person signing, keep the default party, place your fields and use SELF SIGN. See Sign a document yourself.
Sign documents without another subscription.
Upload, sign and send in minutes. When you need more than the free documents, buy credits once, and a credit is used only when a document is signed.
