Send a document for signature
On this page
Once your fields are in place, you add your signer's email address and SignWith emails them a signing link straight away. Your signer does not need an account. When everyone has signed, every party, including you, gets an email with the signed document and the audit trail.
Which option should I use?
| Option | Use it when | How |
|---|---|---|
| The signer is somewhere else | SHARE, add their email, keep Send Email on, click SEND | |
| SHARE LINK | You want to send the link through WhatsApp, Slack, text or another channel | Add the recipient, click VIEW on the submission, then SHARE LINK |
| In person | The signer is with you, on your device | SHARE, add their email, switch Send Email off, then SIGN NOW. See Get a document signed in person |
| SELF SIGN | You are the only signer | SELF SIGN in the editor. See Sign a document yourself |
Send by email
- In the editor, click SHARE. (On a saved document's page, click ADD RECIPIENTS.)
- In Add New Recipients, type the signer's email in "Enter emails here...".
- Leave Send Email switched on.
- Optional: click Edit message to change the subject and add a personal message.
- Click SEND.

What happens after you send
You see "New recipients have been added." and the recipient appears under Submissions with the status SENT. The invitation comes from [email protected] with your name as the sender, and its Review and sign button opens the document. The document's name in the email is your file name.

Follow progress on the submission page. See Check the status of a document you sent. Each document you send counts as one of your documents for the month.
Share the link yourself
SHARE LINK, at the top right of the submission page, copies the same signing link the email sends. Share it through any channel. Opening it starts signing exactly as the email button does. See Can I send the signing link without email?.
