Only the right person gets to sign.
Switch on email OTP verification when you add recipients. Before your signer can open the document, they enter a 6-digit code sent to their email. A forwarded or shared link is not enough.
- Free on every account, no extra credit
- Signers need no account
- Works on every signing link

Three steps to a verified signer
1You switch it on
In the Add New Recipients window, switch on Require email verification (OTP), then click SEND.
2Your signer asks for a code
When they open the link, they see Verify your email to access this document and click SEND VERIFICATION CODE.
3They enter it and sign
They type the 6-digit code from their email and click VERIFY. The document opens and they sign as usual.
What OTP verification gives you
A shared link is not enough
The code goes to the signer’s inbox, so whoever holds the link also needs that inbox.
Works on every link
Sent by email, or copied with SHARE LINK to WhatsApp, Slack or text: the code check applies to all of them.
No extra cost
It is included on every account. Verification uses no extra credit.
No account for signers
Your signer only needs their email. No sign-up, no app, no password.
Resend in one click
If the code does not arrive, your signer clicks Resend code on the same screen.
One switch per send
Turn it on for the documents that matter and leave it off for quick ones.

Part of the record behind every signature
- Signers verify their identity with a one-time passcode sent to their email.
- SignWith's email OTP verification, consent record, signing record and audit trail are designed to support the requirements of the ESIGN Act and UETA.
- Every completed document comes with a Certificate of Completion that records timestamps, IP addresses, device and browser details and email events, sealed with a SHA-256 hash.

Frequently asked questions
What is email OTP verification?
- A check before signing. SignWith sends a 6-digit one-time code to the signer’s email, and they must enter it before the document opens.
Where do I turn it on?
- In the Add New Recipients window, after you enter your signers’ emails. Switch on Require email verification (OTP) and click SEND.
Does it cost extra?
- No. It is included on every account and uses no extra credit. A credit is used only when the document is signed, as usual.
Does my signer need a SignWith account?
- No. Your signer only needs access to the email address you entered. See Do signers need a SignWith account?
Does it work if I share the link on WhatsApp or Slack?
- Yes. The code check runs whenever someone opens the signing link, however it reached them. See Can I send the signing link without email?
My signer did not get the code. What now?
- Ask them to check spam or promotions, then click Resend code on the verification screen. If the email address was wrong, send the document again to the right one.
